This craft dates back more than a thousand years. One of the most famous cities known for soap making is Nablus, which became renowned for producing some of the finest types of soap in different forms. The soap came to be known as Nabulsi soap to distinguish it. It is worth noting that the main ingredient in soap making is olive oil, which is abundant in Nablus, and this helped the city become famous for its soap industry.

How Nabulsi Soap Is Made

• The raw materials are prepared, which include pure olive oil, water, and caustic soda.
The ingredients are placed in large vats and cooked over heat for long hours while being stirred until the mixture thickens.
Then the liquid soap is poured onto a smooth floor in the factory and left to cool slightly.
The soap is cut by hand into equal cubes using special tools.
The soap pieces are stacked on top of one another in the shape of towers and left for weeks until they dry completely.
